Dr. Donatella Agius is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Malta specialising in adult mental health and eating disorders across all ages. She obtained her MD from the University of Malta in 2010 and completed her specialist training in psychiatry in 2018.
She works across community and specialist services, including Malta’s Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, providing acute mental health care in the community. Dr. Agius also leads Malta’s dedicated eating disorder unit at Dar Kenn Għal Saħħtek. She has extensive experience in perinatal mental health, supporting women and families through mental health difficulties during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in teaching and training healthcare professionals. She lectures at the University of Malta, Learning Works, and Barts and Queen Mary Medical School Gozo. Her interests include service development, patients’ perspectives on available support for eating disorders, and exploring new interventions and treatments to enhance care for individuals with eating disorders.
